Attic Renovation . Toronto, ON

Located in Seaton Village, this second and third floor renovation re-imagined the existing third floor attic office space into a new master bedroom and ensuite that framed views to the adjacent mature tree canopy. The program of the third floor incorporates a new bedroom suite, washroom, and study space. The existing pitched roof structure posed a significant design challenge for the requirements of the program which included: maintaining an open concept space, maximizing natural light, additional storage, and having the ability to acoustically separate the floor from the remainder of the house. By creating a separated and open vanity space from the washroom area, we were able to offer a space that complimented the complexity of the ceiling. In addition to the attic renovation, the second floor was completely demolished to provide insulation, new windows and a better layout for the bedrooms.
